The Piano Adventure Series
I love teaching from these books! They provide a wonderful base of musical knowledge and nice selection of music. For each lesson of instruction, there are enough songs to practice and play to learn that skill well. The skills advance at a decent pace so the student is not completely overwhelmed. In addition, if the student is ready, you can move at a faster pace easily enough.
The Piano Adventure Series actually is broken into different series for different ages.

5-6 year olds: My First Piano series --works great!

2nd grade - 6th grade: Traditional Piano Adventure series.

5th grade - adult: Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner

Adult: I've been using the Accelerated Older Beginner. Seems to work better.

You can purchase books either by a local music store or online.
